This has been a good vintage overall, providing very nice Grenache (from our McLaren Vale estate vineyards) for Eclipse and Shiraz (from our growers block at Langhorne Creek) for Reserve Shiraz but unfortunately we were unable to produce a Reserve Cabernet this year due to late rain and humidity.

It was a very different growing season to others of recent times. The spring was cool, wet and windy followed by a more humid summer than normal. As a result, the harvest was late, our picking not starting until late March at McLaren Vale and early April at Langhorne Creek. The success of 2017, after all the early wet weather, was thanks to the warm, dry conditions which prevailed for the last 6 weeks of ripening. Unfortunately the season was cut short by the arrival of significant rain on April 20 before the Cabernet was ready.

We are very pleased with the 2017 Grenache and Shiraz wines now maturing in the cellar.
